This travel was because of Robb's being the head coach of the US Blind Powerlifting Team. It's off to the Czech Republic for the World Blind Powerlifting Championships to be held in the southern city of Budweis. Robb got his flight & hotel covered, so it was just the cost of me & Katy (we went ahead and bought her a seat since it would be such a long flight). Also, since we were going to Czech, we decided to get there a few days early so we could see the capital city of Prague as well as spend a day tracking down Mary's family's ancestral township of Hradec Kralove. And, since a trip all the way to Europe is rare for us, we decided to 'stop-off' in France on the way home to see this sights of Paris, Versille & Euro-Disneyland!
After an all-day travel from Portland to New York, and an all-night flight to Europe, we arrived in Czech mid-morning. Unfortunately, we had several difficulties - the biggest, Robb's luggage did not arrive. After we got done dealing with the airline and got to the hotel, we had to find a market and buy Robb some basic supplies to hold him until (and if) his lost luggage showed. That means we didn't get to get out and see the sights until dinner, and by then it was getting dark...
That actually worked okay, as it gave us a night to get re-adjusted. We had time for a walk across the Charles Bridge before it got too dark.
Did get to see a great sunset, however!
